Meet DJ Austin – Beat Train’s multi-talented music connoisseur known for his irresistible genre-blending dance parties, cosmopolitan yet cool cucumber energy, with a strong hint of southern charm. It all began with dance for Austin, and getting his audience to move with him is always the goal. As a child, Austin would stand in front of the TV and learn the choreography to songs like Ciara’s “1, 2 Step.” Growing up, he was immersed in a diverse array of music through his family, listening to everything from 60s Soul and 80s classics, to 70s Punk and today’s Top 40 hits. Austin’s grandfather, a local DJ in Wichita, KS, left a lasting impression on him as he mixed tracks at family reunions and burned mixtapes onto CDs for everyone.
Today, Austin is all about churning out mixes to bring the generations together. Think classic Stevie Wonder meets Outkast, with hints of Pharrel, all with the goal of blending genres that make everyone want to boogie. Though he has a broad musical taste, he also always has a special place in his heart for his favorite styles of dance floor classics like Prince and Missy Elliot, to mosh pit singalongs like Greenday and No Doubt. When you work with Austin, you will feel seen, heard, uplifted and unable to stop tapping those toes!
Austin’s journey into origintal music production began after befriending a producer at a donut shop in Providence, RI. Over the next 5-6 years, he honed his sound and developed a unique style. In 2020, while living in Tokyo, Austin started learning how to DJ. Later that year, he moved to Atlanta, which further positioned him into diverse music scenes around the world.
With a Bachelor’s in Visual Arts from Brown University and a Master’s of Science in Human-Computer Interaction from Georgia Tech, Austin’s practice is rooted in a research-driven experience design process. Each iteration of development makes his practice an exciting channel for delivering holistic experiences that engage audiences in innovative ways through analogue, embedded, and virtual technologies. All this to say, Austin’s got your back both as a creative, and a technician, and he cannot wait to help bring your most important memories to life!
