Working with Maliyah from Beat Train was a wonderful experience! She was professional, organized, and super personable. As a queer and nonbinary couple, we felt very safe and respected by her. She met with us a few times ahead of the wedding to go over details, and Beat Train provided a nifty form that we could fill out with music selections. Based on what we talked about, Maliyah sent us a draft play list a few weeks beforehand, which we loved and got some great new music out of! The DJ set was incredible on the wedding day- we got compliments from a number of guests on the *excellent* selection and great transitions. 10/10 would recommend Maliyah and Beat Train. We decided to get an uplighting kit as a last minute addition and it really brought the ambience, we’re so glad we made that choice. Maliyah went above and beyond and was a key part in making our day magical!
DJ Maliyah was by far one of the best choices we made for our wedding. She communicated often with us, answered any questions we had quickly, and brought such an amazing energy to our wedding day. We asked for “nerdy vibes” for pre-ceremony and cocktail hour, and she delivered. everything from our favorite video games, shows, you name it. We loved hearing the soundtracks from the things that brought us together, while we took pictures and caught up with friends. Maliyah timed everything out for us, from our processional music, to our first dance. She did the perfect amount of commentary for our liking, and the only “issue” we had, was that we literally could NOT stop dancing. We had a small wedding of 50 people, but the dance floor was filled the entire time. Thank you for setting the perfect tone for our wedding day Maliyah!
Maliyah was THE BEST!! She perfectly curated a mix of music everyone at the wedding loved- the dance floor was packed ALL NIGHT and no one was sitting down. She met with us several times to discuss what we were looking for, was super professional and made our day absolutely perfect! From ceremony music to after party chaos- don’t sleep on her!!
Maliyah did a fantastic job at our wedding and I know of no one else who could navigate the eclectic music tastes of my family as well as she did. She can read the crowd and recognizes that while a requested song may seem out of left-field at first, there is a place for it in the set where its special meaning can shine through. Even though our wedding was four years ago, we all still talk about how good the music was. We highly recommend her to anyone who has spent time imagining their wedding playlist and wants to make it a night to remember!
Maliyah was an amazing partner to us throughout our wedding (5/14/2022) process from start to finish and I would highly recommend her as a DJ for your wedding and/or event. She made sure to understand all of our interests for each aspect of the day thoroughly, not just me the bride but also my husband’s. Maliyah gave guidance when we were unsure of our decisions, and worked with us empathetically when we had to postpone our wedding a year due to COVID safety concerns. She explained the process and checked in frequently, and on the day of, arrived promptly and executed every moment flawlessly from the ceremony, to the announcements, to the parent-child dances, and last send-off song at the reception. Not a single blip or mistake, literally. Everyone got up to dance at the reception, and notably, she played all our must-play tracks only when we were both available and on the dance floor, not off taking photos or otherwise occupied!! Maliyah gave us the peace of mind and professionalism to have the most amazing wedding day. Thank you so much!
We absolutely loved having Maliyah DJ our wedding! We vibed with her instantly during our initial consult and had a great experience collaborating with her on our set list. Our reception requests were an eclectic mix of pop, country, disco, and line dances, and Maliyah made the music flow naturally. She was even able to pull off a truly epic ABBA medley that our guests still talk about! Our wedding coordinator said that she had never seen a dance floor so full and active, and it was thanks to Maliyah that everyone was on the dance floor all night long. We highly recommend her!
Maliyah was above and beyond what we could’ve expected. She was so easy and enjoyable to work with — we had several detailed calls prior discussing our vision for the music and she was great about respecting what we wanted and providing suggestions and expertise where needed. As the MC for the night, she nailed the balance of providing direction and voice over where needed, but not overdoing it. She was personable and funny and an overall joy to have at our wedding, our friends and family still rave about her to this day!
Music was going to be one of the most important parts of our wedding experience, and Maliyah created the perfect blend of our requests and adjusting for the flow of the party. Live mixing and medleys were two of the key reasons we chose Maliyah, because we didn’t want just a playlist with songs going from start-to-finish. Maliyah was extremely responsive and easy to work with leading up to the day. I can’t say enough about how happy we were with everything!
