Modern Day Mix-Tape

Martha Stewart interviews Ari Rosenfield, founder of Beat Train Productions, and Simon Tai, DJ at Remixologists, about the proper way to make a modern day mix-tape. Mix-tapes don’t have to be a thing of the past as they suggest using a unique flash drive instead of an actual tape or CD.

Ari emphasizes how important it is to personalize your mix-tape. This shows you’ve put thought into the mix-tape and that you really had your S.O. in mind. He gives great examples such as throwing in the theme song of their favorite tv show. He also suggests introducing your S.O. to something new. Do the research and find a variety of music in their favorite genre that you think your S.O. might not have heard before. Most importantly, never regift an old mix-tape!

As a DJ and entrepreneur Ari takes great pride in striving to exceed expectations and to make sure all “T’s” are crossed and “I’s” are dotted. Since founding Beat Train Productions, Ari has DJ’d at over 225 weddings and has sent DJs to over 500 more. Here’s a few soulful love songs spanning 1959 to 1968, from Ari’s vinyl collection.
