Meet Esther Luz, Beat Train’s tiny but mighty diamond in the rough! Esther is a multi-talented hustler who is just as comfortable DJing a glamorous hotel party, as she is performing improv comedy or moonlighting as a keyboardist in a number of local indie bands. (She even made a musical cameo on a recent Psychedelic Furs record!) But despite her long list of impressive accolades, Esther manages to always stay down-to-earth and reliable, turning up to every event with a positive and capable outlook.
Music has been in Esther’s blood since the tender age of 4, when she began her lifelong pursuit of Classical piano training. By age 16, Esther had picked up a DJ mixer, and sharpened her chops enough to be invited to make her DJing debut at a NY Fashion Week party for Dolce & Gabanna. Since then, she has become a regular in the star-studded party circuit, DJing Frank Stallone’s birthday party, and earning residencies at the prestigious Standard Hotel, and Macao Trading Company. And here’s the cherry on top: While she was busy making waves on the star-studded NYC DJ scene, Esther managed to keep her head down and earn a degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, proving her dedication to art runs deep.
Esther has continued to grow as a DJ over the recent years by teaching mixing lessons to clients from of all ages and walks of life both at The Foxgrove and at her own Soho-based company Open Format. When she’s not busy teaching and DJing, you might spot Esther hopping onstage in a local theatre production, or dive bombing across 5th avenue to pet a cute dog 🙂
