After bar hopping with her brother one night in Bushwick, Teenie came to realize that every establishment they went to featured a dj that defied the cheesy wedding stereotype. She heard them play interesting, unique, and progressive tracks in line with her own musical ethos. She vowed that night that she would begin the journey in learning the trade. In the beginning, she was not focused on landing gigs, but determined and content with learning for her own soul fulfillment. Always staying true to herself, people began to notice and appreciate her style. Without self promotion, Teenie began to get gigs, notably Neiman Marcus, SOWA (an artist loft in Boston’s South End), Athleta, and Courtland Club, Providence’s vibey speakeasy and Teenie’s favorite joint.
Teenie worked in her dad’s pizzeria all growing up. As a child she helped empty ashtrays (when there was indoor smoking allowed) and wipe down tables. As a teenager and young adult she worked the line as a short-order cook. She attributes her strong work ethic to being the daughter of a blue-collar immigrant. Her mother was a modern dancer and studied in the style of Martha Graham. At an early age her parents took her to modern dance productions, galleries, and museums. This combination, work ethic and creative sensibility, translates well to dj’ing. Teenie is intent on client satisfaction, regardless how big or small the event is. Being born under the sign of Leo, Teenie likes to stand out, and is often clad in glam rock while performing; think metallic blue eyeshadow and sequined vintage prom dresses. Of course, she’ll play anything according to the client’s preference, but she naturally gravitates toward breakbeats, 1980’s Chicago house, and 1990’s Detroit house/techno. Teenie approaches every gig with same energy and attention to detail. Trust her with your ears.
Teenie has two kids, Leonardo and Lorenza. Lorenza was born on Christmas Day!
